I started tutoring saxophone and piano since high school. I’ve always had a natural knack for explaining things; my grandfather was the head music teacher in his high school. Sax & Piano (Sax and Piano) is my way of expanding my service around Sydney, especially my local area of Kogarah, Rockdale, Brighton, Hurstville and surrounding suburbs.
My tutoring helps children and adults learn saxophone and piano, fast and properly. I’m for making progress every single week.
I was born in Australia in a Serbian, musical family with my grandpa Lazar being a headmusic teacher and my great-grandfather Milorad being a musician in the army. I started teaching shortly after receiving expert mentorship from Melinda Atkins, teacher of world renowned saxophonist, Amy Dickson.
I went on to complete a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience to understand the mind, neurons and communication on a deeper level. I refined my teaching style and practice techniques to reflect the raw fundamentals of playing the sax and piano, so students learn as quickly and effectively as possible. The faster they progress, the more rewarding it is and the more motivated they become.
Without honesty, there is no true course correction. It’s my job to put students on the right path by telling them exactly what they’re doing good and what they need to improve on. There is no point in hiding the reality of hard practice; you’ve got to burn to shine.
Nothing is achieved under continuous stress and fatigue. Lessons are fun and open-ended to promote our energy and motivation to continue for the long term.
“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.”

My mission is to help my community and all keen students of Sydney learn sax, piano and music as quickly and effectively as possible.
I also want to help every student enjoy playing, understand music and emotions and help them become aware and disciplined people for all areas of life.
I take on a maximum of 15 students at a time, and I currently have 12 students.
Here are some happy students and parents!
Luka has been teaching my daughter saxophone for the past 5 years. He is an enthusiastic, friendly and easygoing teacher. Luka is dedicated to his students, and often stays longer than the allocated lesson time. He has helped my daughter achieve an A mark for Grade 4 and 5 saxophone comprehensive exams. She is now working towards Grade 6 exam.
I would recommend Luka as a saxophone teacher.
Luka works well with Alex, he’s not just teaching him music the whole time, he talks a bit about communication in general and confidence. Alex tells me lessons are organised but also can take sudden turns in new directions when he asks the right questions, making the lesson feel like a learning adventure.
Thank you Luka for the A he’s received, we’re very happy with his quick progress. “
Luka has ways to motivate my son to love and enjoy music using his ability to relate to him as young person. Success at exam, is not only the benefit, he has a positive influence on their schooling and general interest at home.
I highly recommend Luka as it seems there is a great deal of fun and learning music going on in these lessons.
